Letter to the Editor

This is a copy of my letter to the editor that I am going to put in the Ozark Spectator this coming week.

During the Aug. 12 Democratic Radio Address Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR) criticized President Bush’s anti-terror policies. Later in the broadcast Pryor went on to say that democrats believe that the government should do more to protect Americans.

My question to Senator Pryor is if you believe that government should do more to protect Americans, why did you vote with many other democrats (Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid) to defeat the Patriot Act without suggesting any other policy or anti-terror measures. So, Sen. Pryor, why is it that you would vote to get rid of an anti-terrorism measure and not have something to replace it? This would leave America without any anti-terrorism measures and take this country back to pre- 9/11 protection.

I am very thankful that there are representatives in Washington that are smarter that Sen. Pryor and understand the need for anti-terror measures to keep the country safe.

Nebraska Wrap up

Well so I got back from a week in Nebraska this past Friday night. The whole trip was just pretty much amazing. I loved every minute of it. I have a whole bunch of pictures that are on my Facebook. If i get some time i'll put some of them on here. I'm really sun burned from it Summer band starts tommorow morning. I'm really dreading it because I just don't want to go. I don't have any music memorized. I haven't even opened my horn all summer. So it will be intresting. I hear that there is a new tuba, not for sure if it is a tuba or susaphone though. School starts pretty soon. I kinda was not looking forward to it. But I realized that regardless it's going to start and there isn't anything I can do to get out of it so I decided to just look at it as a good mission field. The Franklin County Republican Committee is creating a TAR (TeenAge Republicans). So I think i'm going to run for president of the group. Our first meeting is this Thursday at Mr. Gossages house. Josh Hutchinson (Asa's nephew) is going to be there. Which is pretty cool. I'm really excited about it. Saturday was the Altus Grape Fest. I worked at the Asa for Governor booth. It went very good. I'm a little upset with the Beebe guys, they really upset me. But it's politics so it makes it really well. I'm looking forward to election day. There is about 93 days left. It's going to rock, and we are going to win! Oh, I have a new verse. Well actually i've had it for awhile. I don't have any time to do any major updating. I have a butt load of things to do. I've been pretty busy latley and will continue to be pretty busy for the rest of the month, and then summer band starts :-(. I have a ton of emails to reply to, so if anyone has sent me anything and I have not replied, be patient and wait a day or so and I should be getting back to you. As for tonight though, relaxation is top on the list. The YWAMers and I are going to attempt to see the Pirates of the Carribean again tonight. We tried last night but when we got to Fort Smitty it was sold out. So hopefully we will have better luck tonight in Clarksvegas. I leave for Nebraska in 11 days. I'll be gone from July 22 through July 28. It's going to totally rock. I can't wait. July 31, Brad Flickenger (KFSM met) is going to be in Ozark doing the weather, so if everything works out we are going to go eat somewhere in Ozark. But since Rivertowne BBQ is closed on Sundays that leaves me with very few options. I'm thinking maybe Widerkehrs. But they are waaaay expensive, especially considering I don't have a job any more. Camp wrap up

So a whole lot of great things happened this week at camp. Every session the speaker (Kirk Hall) asked a question to make you think. Here are the questions from the week. 1. Who are you? 2. I Hate My Job

After I was thinking that working at the OMP was getting better. It just got completly worse in the course of 2 days. First of all I do not have off for Sundays and Wednesday nights anymore. This really made me mad. I specifically said on the application that I would have to have off all day Sunday and Wednesday nights. Well there goes that. And tonight I might as well of been the only package help there. The other guy did nothing but sit on his butt in the office. When he did do something I had to go behind him and get told by the manager to do it again becasue the other guy did not do it right. GRRRRR! I hate this job. Here is what I'm thinking. Time for a more detailed update

Ok. Here is a more detailed update. So I got a job at the Ozark Marketplace. My first night was Tuesday, it really stunk. Wednesday night I didn't get to go to church so that put an even more bitter feeling about this job into me. Plus a truck came in Wed. night, and it was just me and Jesse Zollicoffer. He has only been there for a few days, so 2 new guys had to unload a truck and stock the shelves with the stuff that came off the truck. That really stunk. We didn't get out of there until 11pm that night so it was horrible. Thursday night was much better, we didn't have much to work on besides carry groceries out and do the normal milk and eggs. I had tonight (Friday) off and I went fishing with Josh, Jen, Aaron, and Showshanna. I caught 2, they caught none. LOL sorry guys! I have to work tommorow :(. Church camp is in about 2 weeks (June 26-30), I can't wait!!!! Jessica Story got back from her church camp a couple days ago. It seems to of had a good impact on her. Which is pretty awsome. Right now we don't have a girl counselor going with us, so we have to find someone to go with the girls. There aren't really much of us going, which kinda stinks but there is a group from Oklahoma that are going to be staying with us. And we all know that these are good people becasue they are from the Sooners state! I hope I don't have to work Sunday, or atleast work 4-9 so I can go to church. Since I had to ask off for a whole week for church camp I figured I would wait awhile before asking off for Sundays and Wednesdays. Anyways, this was shorter than I intended. School is almost out. Jill left for Scottland today (that sucks). Jonathan Brown from YWAM got back Sunday after being in Cambodia for 2 months. The rest of the DTS got back last night. The ARES meeting got cancled for tonight so I will get to go to the community service tonight and see them, which is cool. I can't wait for school to be out. Hopefully this weekend Jake Edgin, Jordan Akins are going to go camping. We are either going to stay at Redding park up north of Ozark or out our church camp, Baptist Vista. All three of us went fishing last night on the railroad tracks. I was the only person to catch anything :-), lol but it wasn't too big. Friday Finally!

It is Friday finally. Only 2 more hours and it's free for the weekend, which sounds pretty amazing!

I had borrowed the movie (or documentary i guess you should say) from Melany Pritchard (a YWAMer). And Mrs. Hillard, one of my teachers, has been showing it in her class for the past two days. People really like it, which is good. Melany hopefully will be able to come to that class for a day and answer questions and tell about the whole background and stuff. I can't wait!
I have been looking for a job pretty hard latley. Here is the scoop on that: I am going to go down to the courthouse today and get an application there (that is my job of choice). I am also going to call Mayor Bat Coley and talk to him about doing something there (that is my second job of choice). If neither of those two work out I am going to fill out an application for CV's or the Market Place. I don't want to work at a grocery store, so hopefully one of those two will work out.
The band DVD is comming along great. The only thing I have left to do is add all of the pictures from Dallas in and then its about 95% done. After that I will have to get on Mr. Humes computer, spend about 10 minutes making the Menu and then its all done! The problem with that is hardly anyone has brought any pictures from the trip to me, so it may just not be on there. I hope it's on there though!
The wx situation has been boring. Tuesday night a nice supercell moved across the Seqoyah/Sebastion county area. It had a nice rotating wall cloud in it. Once it started into the southern part of our county it had pretty much disipated, becomming just a heavy rain cell. The next day Mr. Hume and Nicole were complaining that there TV show had been covered up by the coverage. Cry babies......so Mr. Hume and I have been in an on-going argument (all in fun and play though). Nicole emailed the station manager at KFSM complaining, so Becca and I sent one too applauding Ch. 5 for their excellent coverage, lol Nicole!
I have been talking to Dave Whites the past few days. He is the EC for Sebastion County. I am going to be working on two websites for him. So thats cool.

Back from Dallas!

Much has happened since the last post. I will try to give a brief update on what has went on with the little time I havel 1. Trip To Dallas - On Friday at 7am we were supposed to depart from OHS on our end of year band tirp to Dallas, Texas. But something went wrong, probably a communication error, and we didn't leave until around 10am.

We get there just in time to put our things in our rooms and make it to the game within the first inning
It was fairly boring and uneventful until about the 5th inning when a lot of fans were getting drunk. Thats when it started getting fun. I will CLEARLY state that not any of us students were, it was the people and fans around us. It was absolutley hilarious to watch a drunk guy try to get the stadium to do the wave. But it was all good.
I then place a phone call to Garret Lewis, Cheif Meteorologist at Channel 5 KFSM to ask him about the wx situation. Before we had left the hotel I had just a minute to check the weather and there had been a tornado watch. He tells me that there were 4 supercells to our south. They did not bother us, they ended up shifting paths and going off to more Easterly. But we did get a lot of rain. It was fun tracking them though, kinda fun to see weather events in other locations.
The next day we take our time at the hotel and then we leave at around 11am to go to a mall there in Dallas. It was pretty boring. Leslie and I shopped around for clothes, i bought a cow boy hat, and then Leslie and I rode the carosel on the horses while taking pictures. Cow Boy Up!
We leave to go the the Spagetthi Wharehouse, but we go across the street to some littl shop thing. It was pretty boring there as well.
We eat at the spagehtie wharehouse and it wasn't great. It was just semi-okish. My mom could make better food than that.
We then make the departure home with making a couple stops along the way.
Make it home at about 11:30 PM.
My aunt who lives/ed in El Paso, Texas had just gotten in for the summer before they transfer to Fort Hood. So I went to my grandmas to see them.
Go home, go to bed.

2. Sunday Following - Wake up for church. Get ready. Mom then tells me to "clean out my history on the computer", ok whatever. Then she was like yea i said that becuause i noticed you were lookin at porn. I then got loud and mad and i was telling her, or atleast trying to explain to her that it was not me. Well after doing a little thinking about it i finally came to the conclusion that it had to of been Vinny who was looking at it. Well yes, he admitted to it. He said he would call my mom and explain, he has not yet done that.

3. Monday - Wake up with an unbearbale ear ache. Yes, it sounds dumb for a 16 year old to have an ear ache. But it hurt pretty bad. So I stay home and get some medicine for it.

4. Tuesday (today) - Had a nice line of severe storms move through. Nothing too severe once they got here though, which seems to be the case almost all the time. Had a lightening stirke somewhere near the HS that caused the fire alarms to go off. Don't ask me how that happened. Bradley Mullins was here for lunch. He already has "Hillary" stickers on his Jeep. That poor guy just doesn't know what is right for this country. Now the bell is about to ring here in Desktop Publishing so I gotta run.

Standardized Test = Ugghh

I absolutley can not stand long test. We had the End of Course Geometry test today (and tommorow). The multiple choice questions were super easy, but the open response ones were either hard or just completly dumb. We also had a test in Desktop Publishing. It wasn't really standardized like these stupid government test. But it was for some educational co-op or something. Going to YWAM tonight. Should be fun. I can't wait to see the movie "Invisible Children"....I have saw a small portion, like about 10 minutes of it. And that 10 minutes was pretty good. So i'm completly stoked about it. BECCA - I'm watching you. You know what I mean. Lots of rain is forecasted for this weekend. Not too fun :-(! There are a few slight chances for some severe stuff in the later parts of the weekend. Not too great, so i'm not too totally impressed. But hey, we need the rain I guess. Mrs. Bratton told me that she has about 40 band pictures that she took this past season scanned onto her computer for me to use on the DVD. She also said thats only about half of them. So that makes me happy. I plan on doing everything that I can this weekend with the materials that I have. That should work well since it will be stinking raining outside ...bah humbug. Church was well last night. Fun anyways. The Cody situation is still up in the air, as far as I know. EOC = 2 Thumbs Down

Tommorow I have EOC Geometry, it is also on Firday :-(. I hate standardized test. After this one I will only have one more, which will be the EOC literacy test next year. I think I will do well, I need to ask Skaggs about one thing. Tonight at churh was good, I guess. The whole Cody situation is a little scratchy, but much more clear than before. Our elders did vote to say bring him here, but he had a job interview at Crossett FBC Monday. So as Mary Dee said, the ball is in his court. I hope that we get an answer soon. We don't have any one lined up if Cody doesn't come, and with less than two weeks till most colleges get out for summmer. That could put us in a tight situation. But I'm not worried about it, it's not in my control. The band DVD is comming along good. We have almost everything we need to start. I plan on starting it this weekend since it will be rainy and keep me inside, so it should be a good project. We have some good ideas and great things going to be on it, but i'm not going to go into much detail so it is a surprise. But I will say it's going to be really good. Tommorow YWAM is showing Invisible Children, I plan on going. I haven't made it to a Thursday night meeting in a looooooong time. Nor have I been up there or seen anyone in a long time. So it will be great Only 9 days till the band trip to Dallas. The 101 Post!

Well this is the 101th post on this blog! Woohoo. I really can't believe that I have kept it up to date for this long. I've had a couple times with almost 2 weeks and no update, but who doesn't. School is going alright today (i'm still here now). I didn't have to do anything 3rd hour because my teacher, Coach Skaggs, was giving an end-of-course exam and he will be tommorow also. In 4th hour we didn't do anything because a lot of people were taking that e-0-c test. But Thursday and Friday I have to take the e-o-c gemetry test :-(. I hate long standardized test, they are dumb and boring. But I think I'll do good on this one, i made a pretty good grade on the review. So there was some pretty stinking severe weather last night, but guess what....by the time it got here, it wasn't severe at all. At one point NWSTSA did give us a significant weather advisory, which is just below severe t-storm cirteria. So it wasn't much. But I did have fun playing with a new program that I got from Patrick. It's waaayyy cool. It is called GRLevel3. It's only amazing. I should post some screenshots of it. I did go down to the EOC about around 11:30 and got home around 1 a.m. So i am a little tired. The DVD hasn't gotten anywhere yet. I am still taking tons of pictures every day durring first hour. We are defenitly going to be covered as far as having enough pictures. It's just I can't get any music....*caugh caugh, hayley*...lol j/k i know you've been busy. But once I get the music for it I'll be able to do it within a couple of nights. Tommorow at lunch, Mr. McElhaney is supposed to come and record a little intro that he did durring the marching season...that is if Nicole remembers to have him come and he is not busy. After that it should be smooth sailing. Anyways, I have neglected to my desktop publishing work this hour. I probably won't do it. When you ask for something and you get it you are happy, right? I would be. Well in the recent past a couple of former friends were in a dispute, we come to a mutual agreement to drop it and it would be over with. Sounded great to me! Well one of them has decided to act half her age and get some of her other friends involved and fight her side for her. This is dumb and childish, but it all the stuff you did before was too...so it's nothing new. I have not said anything or done anything for you or provoked you in any way to bring this back up. So my question to you is why do you have to be a little immature brat? Why does that sound so familiar???? Oh wait, I got it.......maybe because you called me that!! Anyways, you can continue to have your friends fight your battles for now. I won't pay any attention to it. I will continue to express my political opinions and views here on my blog about illegal immigrants. You are about to step out of high school and be on your own, is there always going to be someone there you can ask to go fight your own battle with? I don't think so, not that kind of battle anyways. On a lighter not, I have started working on the band DVD. Recently I have just been getting pictures together, I think I have around 119 so far. I will have to take out atleast 5 of them because they aren't any good. I know I have atleast 3 parents sending some, I am not for sure how much. Kendra will continue to take pictures with her camera, if she doesn't get tired of it anyways! The trip to Dallas is on May 5 & 6. There will be a lot of pictures taken there, so that should bump the number up to around 200 atleast. JOSH- Have a good time on your trip to Sengal! --Skot--

Well I've been prett busy. Lots of things have been going on. Friday night we had a band concert contest at the Alma Performing Arts Center, WE GOT AN OVERALL 1! Yeaaaa! Congrats to us! The band trip is comming up on May 5 and 6. I'm not tooo thrilled about going to a baseball game, but it'll be fun. Today Patrick gave me this really sweet radar program. It's only amazing. I don't know how to explain it in understandable terms, so i'll break it way down and just say i can do jsut about anything that they do on TV or at the NWS. Tonight I went to stephanies bday party. WOW! Man, I knew Bush was making some changes in his cabinet but I did not know it would go as far as it has. Karl Rowe was re-assigned to a different position. But what shocked me the most was that Scott McClellan was stepping down as White House Press Secretary. That was a big slap in the face! He was really good at what he did. But Ari Shiefer (also served as Press Secretary in Bush's cabinet) did a waaaayyyy better job and being mean/rude/vulgar to dumb members of the press, haha. I could watch those press confrences all day because Ari did was so mean to the press and it was so funny, he was a MAJOR smart eleck....sounds like uhh, not me! haha. But yea, I wonder who Bush will replace McClellan with...hmm...I hope it is someone upfront with the press...Maybe Bush should appoint....Sophie, lol that would be crazy. Prom pictures came in today, well I was sorta dissapointed in myself because I forgot to smile! Not just in one both both mine and Nicoles, sorry Nicole! English was great today, besides the poetry of course. Mrs. Guthrie will read a poem and then ask what is meant by it and everyone just instantly has it and I don't get it at all. Like today she read one that was a personification of a "train", well I had no clue and everyone else instantly got it. Why can't poets just says "chugga chugga chew chew", lol, maybe in my happy easy world that migth happen. Band concert was last night, I thought it went good. Eric had gotten his horn back yesterday before the concert after not playing for over a week so needless we were a little bit out of tune but Mr. Hume never said anything, he might realize that there was a small problem. Oh, speaking of band, Mr. Hume told us today at lunch what we are doing on our trip to Dallas. We are going to see a Rangers vs. Yankees game. I'm not toooooo thrilled, but hey if we get out of school and go to a town i've never been in and stay the night and go to a big mall on some tour buses I'm all up for it. I just hope its not on the annual Covert Family Fishing Tournment, which I think it is. I've been on the winning side for a looong time now and to not be there and not continue the tradition might make me sad, NOT! I know a ham radio operator down in Dallas so I am going to take my handheld with me and hope to get to talk to him on the air while we are there. Tonight was church, none of our youth leaders showed up, lol, isn't that great. It's about the second time that has happened. The first time I was the only youth so it was okay, but tonight we had Rikie, Jake, Miranda, Kendra and me so it was a little bit more important. But it was okay because we knew what to do and behaved ourselves....maybe (lol)........... I'm going to buy a few of these shirts, of course the anti-illegal immigration ones. I haven't decided which one though because I like most of them. -oo-Skot-oo-

This whole immigration thing has just been blown out of porportion, i'm simpley agasint illegal immigration and for border security. Well Lou Dobbs, CNN Anchor of Lou Dobbs Tonight, has pretty much the same opinion as me most of the time. Well there is a group of amnesty supporters calling for Lou Dobbs to be kicked off the air. I find this SO ironic because that is a very similar to the situation that I and what some former friends are in. At this point, I have calmed down, with the help of Josh Levin (lol, Josh I hate it when you take me off my mountain) so now I am just curious what people who support amnesty and HR-4437 why you support it. I don't want to get this blown out of porportion or into another big fight, I just simply want to know what is seen in amnesty as benifiting this country. I have tried to think of everything that the "pro-amnesty" groups see good in amnesty. The only thing I have came up with is that the individuals suporting amnesty are in fact those that are illegal immigrants. But of course, thats just my guess. Once again, Patriotism is NOT Racism.

Easter Sunday

Well it is here and it's almost gone. Easter, the day that many people who do not normally attend church feel obligated to sit through a long sermon that they do not enjoy. I think it is sad that it has to be this way because christians should celebrate the resurection of Jesus Christ every day of the year, and have that one day day of the year in Spring for the great food :-)! Today a group of four of us played in a brass quartet at the Ozark First United Methodist church. It was loads of fun, I did really well on the first song but i messed up on the poslude, but it was ok because most people were leaving or already gone. Mom recorded it since it was on Channel 9, i've been tempted to watch it but I don't want to see/hear my mistakes! The services were intresting, definatley different from our southern Baptist services. I liked it, but some things were differet. Like the affirmation of the Holy Catholic Church. They read some thing they call an affirmation and that was a little wierd so I just stood there and didn't read it. And I was surprised that three of their prayers, i'm assuming they were routine, were printed in their bulletin so it was all scripted. My personal opinion on that was prayers to Jesus need to come from your own personal heart, not the church secretary or whoever wrote that specific thing. But thats just my take on it. It was a lot of fun, i really enjoyed the band director and his wife, his wife is also a band director. He is the former band director at Charleston and his wife currently teaches at Mansfield. He is way cool. I think he is an excellent band director....i wouldn't mind at all if he came to Ozark! Tommorow I'm going down to the courthouse to pick up an application. Stephanies mom works their and said I should come pick one up since some seniors might quit pretty soon since they are in JAG and school for the seniors is out in i think about 11 days or something close to that. So everyone pray that I get this job, i really really need it! The weather situation has been pretty crappy the past two weeks, we haven't had ANYTHING! It's stinks to watch all the states up north get all the action and us get nothing. Maybe there will be an improvement in trends and give us some action. The end of the school is comming pretty soon. I don't know exactly what I want to do but i've got some ideas. For one, i am going to Baptist Vista church camp just like the past 6 years, i would like to do some out of town mission work....i found out about the deadline for ywams mission adventure about a week before it was so thats out of the question. I don't know, hopefully some cool opportunities will come up inbetween now and then. Only about a month left of it though! Skot

Dear Current US Senate and Congress: I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this. I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here, so would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following: 1. Free medical care for my entire family. 2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not. 3. All government forms need to be printed in English. 4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers. 5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history. 6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down. 7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch. 8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services. 9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws. 10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English. 11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals. 12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and don’t enforce any labor laws or tax laws. 13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy. You know, sometimes I just don't understand some peoples opinions. Let me just make some things clear.

I am not racist against Mexicans......I dislike illegal immigrants and it just so happens to be that most illegal immgrants in the U.S. are from Mexico.
I understand why most illegal aliens migrate to the U.S. I do feel bad for the conditions that they must live in in such countries as Mexico. But that does not justify why they must come to the U.S. and live off of American citizens. In Arkansas alone citizens pay 117 MILLION a year for medical & incarnation for illegal immigrants. (Source: FAIR US, www.fairus.org).
Due to outsourcing, the United States looses numerous jobs every year for factories moving to other countires, such as Mexica, Houndouras, China & Japan. If that isn't enough illegal immigrants come here and work illegally and get away without paying taxes, while we are stuck with the bill for repaving roads that they drive on and etc. America is not a refugee camp for people of all countries and nationalities to migrate here to live off of us for free for the rest of their lives.
I do apologize for using the word "beaner", Amber did point out to me that there is not much difference between beaner and nigger. So once again I do apologize.
I also apologize for using the word "hate".
Once again, I am not racist. I dislike and disagree with illegal immigration. A friend pretty much said that it was being selfish, no it's not. It is protecting what is ours and what has been ours and what are military did fight for and what our military is fighting for. I'll guarntee if you could go back in time to the Reveloutinary War and ask any soldier if they were fighting for American independance and American land to be gave over to an always increasing population of illegal immigrants, mainly Hispanics, they would say no. If you were to tell that soldier that in 250 years that the most prominent language in America was to be Spanish he would put down his gun and go back to Britian. I'll say this again, and I will stick with it.....Patriotism is not Racism.

I just got into a humongous screaming and yelling fight with a stupid girl....former friend. She has been hanging out with mexicans that run El Puerto...well i know they are illegal and people have admitted it. Today a group of us that eat lunch in the band room ordered pizza for lunch...all was good. I walk into the main band room where her and a few other of my friends were...not planning on saying anything...but she decides to smart off...so I walk off, just going to be the better person. Well a few minutes after that I went with Becca to get a coke and Becca was in there and she starts saying on her phone (talking to another freakin mexican harberor, sp?) and once she sees me she says "only 11 more days till i don't have to put up with immature brats who bumb off their mom"......meaning me....and I kept going (i think, i don't remember saying anything back to her at this point) and as I walked off I came up with so many answers to her crap and comebacks...but i ignored it..........We got the cokes, came back, I don't remember what else happened for a few minutes, but eventually I ended up back in the band room and she started in and I could let it pass so I ended up releasing my furious anger on her and we were screaming...i said some mean......BUT TRUE things to her.....she said crap..she doesn't know what she is talking about. At first I was looking out for jessica and leandra but now i see they are already caught up in sex and alchohol with the mexicans so I have done all I can do...or am willing to do....once this new immigration law passes I'll be placing a few phone calls to some tip lines about the illegal aliens all it just outrages me soooooooooooo much Oh by the way.............sorry to Jake for being a jerk while you were in there....i was sorta caught up in the moment of frustration. --Skot....................anti-illegal immigration/pro border security

Haven't updated in a really long time. Don't have time to be updating right now. But I'm alive. Got lots of things to do and work on right now. Easter Sunday a brass quintet that I play in is playing at the First United Methodist Church in Ozark....all should come if they aren't going anywhere else or should watch on Cox Cable Channel 9. I'm looking for a job, there should be some opening up in the courthouse pretty soon since the seniors will be leaving, i have a few different connections in the courthouse so maybe that will help. But I reall don't want to wait that long to start bringing in some of that green stuff. I'm 16 finally, still haven't taken the permit test...gosh I just have tooooooo many things going on to even find time to study and when I'm not doing anything else I'm just tired and want to rest. I had a surpirse bday party up at YWAM the night of my brithday....i already knew about it ahead of time though. It was fun, even though I wasn't surpirsed. Went to my first prom this past weekend. Nicole McElhaney asked me to go with her, it was fun. I'll put some pictures on here soon...well whenever I get them anyways. I've been working on the 2005-2006 Band DVD....goodness thats a lot of stress. The main problem is that i can't do what I need to do without a lot of other people doing what they need to do....i guess that sounds like life. I might as well just do it all myself, we all know thats the only thing that will make me happy :-) lol. Tommorow, Wednesday, we will finish our reasearch papers in English. Although I really enjoy doing them I'm ready for it to be over with, it just gets old. I did mine over Hurricane Katrina and the failure to respond from all three levels of government (federal, stsate, and local). We had about three weeks of storms there, but this week only holds very minute chances of anything, sort of a good thing....lets me get caught up on things that I put on hold when other things come up. School is actually getting close to the end....just a little over a month...gosh I'm so ready for that! YWAM students are now in Cambodia, I don't know much other than that. Hope they are doing well!

The ywam students are gone.........they left.......for 2 months........tear..........I didn't know them that well, or as well as the other staffers, but I still didn't want to them to leave. It stinks but they are doing good things over there. On a much better note, I turn 16 this Saturday!!!!!! WOOHOOO! I don't plan on doing anything. At first I was planning on doing something with the friends but that turned out to be too much stuff all in one day. So we will probably go out to eat or eat at my grandmas...which is fine...Josh said we may watch a movie up at ywam..that would be cool. Jessica makes me mad. Well It's Friday, well technically it is 1:57 am Saturday....but oh well. Well not much has happened since the last post. It has been spring break, it has been OK, the reason I say that is because nothing exciting has happened. But it has been so amazing to sleep in until afternoon! Ahh it just makes me crave for summer to be here, well only 9 weeks before that. Umm, last Sunday Cody Pierce came to church. He is going to be our youth pastor this summer, so he came, sang a couple songs and gave his testimony. It was pretty cool. Tonight he and the rest of the youth group went to Fort Smith. We first rode the go-karts, which was so fun....i almost got kicked out, haha, but it was great. Sandra was driving, and that in itself is pretty amusing, she tried to pass me and her, Kendra, and I had a minor collision, it was great. After that we went to the mall to eat in the food court and go to a couple of the christian music/book stores there in the mall. Then by that time it was a little late. We had wanted to go bowling but there were tournments going on at both of the bowling alleys, so that kinda stunk. But it was all fun. We had an ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services) meeting Thursday. It was one of the more fun ones. The county has given us an ambulance that isn't in use any more to use as the county EMMCOM (emergency communications) truck. So we are going to work on gutting it and spending a lot of county tax payer dollars to put some pretty ham radios in it! Then we reviewed the events of March 12, which was the night we had two rotating wall-clouds pass through the county and Ozark. That was pretty good. Jessica and I got into an argument. She has been fooling around with the mexicans (whom of which i think are not LEGAL American citizens, but thats just my opinion) that are working at the new mexican restaurant here in Ozark. She does things she shouldn't be doing. And I tell her that she shouldn't be doing and then she rationalizes what she is doing by comparing it to what half the high school does. She does this to make her think she is justified in what she is doing. Then she tried to tell me that I would turn out just like her and do what she is doing when I'm her age and a senior. This made me SO mad because unlike her i'm solid in my faith and I know that I won't get off of the path that God has laid out for me, but trying to talk to her about stuff like this is so hard because she is so stubourn and won't let you say anything because she really truthfully thinks that everyone does the same bad stuff when they are a senior...i dunno, she is just _____, i can't think of a fitting word. I don't know how Eli is doing. I haven't saw him in a long time. I talked to him on the phone last night while i was trying to invite him to come to Fort Smith tonight with us, but he had tickets to some rock concert. Gosh that guy scares me. So much people love and care for him but yet he still does what he does. Sometimes I just don't understand people. The YWAM Ozarks grand opening is tommorow. I plan on going, if I am awake by then! haha. It should be cool. It will be my last chance to see the students and Caroline (unless I go up Sunday) before they leave for Cambodia. Gosh it's so hard to believe that the students have been here as long as they have and now they are leaving! :(....it's sad, but hopefully the 2 months will go by fast and then I can see them again, maybe some of them will come back for the SBS and/or the summer. Spring Break! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!

Finally it is here. Ever since school resumed from Christmas Break I have been wating for Spring Break....haha I love it. Tommorow I am sleeping in....if someone wakes me up....it could get ugly, really ugly. I think i'm going to down to the EOC tommorow and talk to Fred about a job since I turn 16 in only 14 days! woohooo it's gonna be great! I'm talking to Spencer about ham radio, he seems pretty intrested. Which is good, if he gets licensed i get rewards since im an officer of the Arkansas ARRL Youth.......a couple of other friends are also intrested! It be cool if they'd get licensed I'm so bored, i'm just blabbing on about nothing. It is almost 1 am and I should be in bed, but since I do not have school tommorow.....whats the point...ahh there isn't one. Wow! I didn't know I could just ramble on about nothing and it be this long. Josh from YWAM has poison ivy...sorry josh, it must reallly really really really really really stink. Umm the YWAM students leave soon...that really really really really really really really really really does stink....big time stink. Well I do believe i ham done enough of talking about nothing. Wow! the Lord is just amazing

Well tonight we had church. It was so amazing! The first thing is that Mary Dee said her dad, who has an enormous house, has voulnteered to let us use the basement of his house as our sunday school meeting place. We would make it like a "youth hangout place" is what we were told. The only catch is that we have to do all the cleaning up on it to get it to looking nice again, which is NO problem in our book. It's going to be so great, it has it's own kitchen, and a lot of space. We want to put couches, chairs, tv's, game tables like ping-pong and pool tables, and just stuff like that. We are so excited. The second thing is that we were planning on having a cook-out this Sunday after church and invite Cody Pierce to come since he is more than likley going to be our new youth pastor. Well we were planning and doing all kinds of things, and we weren't even sure if he was going to be able to come at all. Then after the service Jan tells us that Cody is comming and he will be singing and giving his testimnoy during the service! We were so rocked, Kendra and I that is. Then I talked to Cody for an hour on the phone just about the church and how we do things. He seems to be excited about how laid back that we are, which is funny to me. So he will be comming to church Sunday and then eating with us afterwards. And then next Friday he is going to Fort Smith with us to go bowling and hopefully some other things that night also. So all in al it was a GrEaT night after all. I'm looking forward to it. Tommmorow is our last day before spring break and we get out at 1:30! I'm SOOOOO excited! Covert Ops

Ahh, where to begin?

Well to say the least the past 5 nights have been fun and intresting. The past five nights we have had severe weather, or atleast expected it, therefor we were at the EOC or spotting/chasing. The best night of them all was Saturday. We had TWO rotating wallclouds come into the county and over Ozark within the course of a 1 1/2 hour period, it was great. I am working on a log of those events to post on my wx blog. This week will be a little bit quieter. Only a 20% chance of stuff exist for Wed. And this weekend there is a good chance of precip, probably nothing severe. *This is the only time you will hear me say this....but.....i'm glad for this weeks forecast because i need a break. Anyways, in English we are doing research papers. I was going to do mine over meteorologist and see if Garret Lewis would come as my visual aid. But Mrs. Guthrie said no to having a "human visual aid", her reason was that if a tornadic outbreak would happen he would not be able to come and i would get a zero, which is a good reason. Busy Busy Busy

Well I have been majorly busy latley with the weather. But tonight is my break in between systems so I thought I would take advantage of this night and get caught up on somethings, especially sleep. My english grade is horrible. I am going to be in so much trouble when report cards come out. But I have decided to kick butt in that class this nine weeks so that I will have a decent average for finals. We are doing research papers and I have already begun. I have my visual aid done and I started working on my outline today, the outline is only beginning and it is already almost two pages. Monday I get to meet Asa Hutchinson! I'm so excited. Joe, my cousin, works for his campaign and he is working at the new office in Conway and they are having a grand opening and Asa will be there. I'm so excited...I want to get a picture with him and put it in the newspaper. It gets me in the politics mood, and it's not even election season yet....but it's getting close! Gosh I can't wait till I can vote! Well, I have many more things to get done tonight with my spair time. Today was amazingly long. First of all last night was really fun at YWAM. I got up around 7 (haha I got to sleep in) and by the way Jonathan and Brint.....that was WAY not cool. So right as I get home Uncle Dave and Aunt Betty gets here....giving my no time to get ready or eat breakfast (i wasted $3 at Hillbilly and didn't even get to eat it :|). But I get down there and just kinda walk around for about an hour just looking at the merchandise. Then the testing session starts, the guy was really mean, he was mad becasue I didn't have a copy of my license with me, but I didn't need to. So after i finish my test....and pass it!....the guy finally understood what I was doing....gosh and he is supposed to be a VE.....well anyways. Right after my test it was time for the ARRL Forum which I was apart of as part of the Arkansas Youth Section. The presentation went very well, had a lot of support from the audience and it looked like a lot of intrest in what we are doing, which is great for us. Then as I was leaving W5NT, a guy over in C-Ville, gives me an HF rig....for those of you non-hams an HF rig is the radio you have privalges to use when you upgrade your license to Genaral or high and thats what I did today. And HF rigs are way expensive, even when they are used. He is a very nice man! I made a new blog specifically for weather. Wow! Two updates back-to-back!

Well it has been awhile since I have updated two times in two days. Well tonight I called YWAM and Melany answered. Melany is a girl from Mephis and she has been here a couple other times in the past. I knew she was comming back to staff but I didn't know when, so when she answered I was comlpetley shocked. But I think its cool that she is here and there will be 4 when most of them go to Cambodia for their outreach. After that I felt somewhat bored and so I decided to take advantage of this out-of-season weather and took a walk. I ended up pretty far from home before I realized what time it was so i made my way home, all of this time I just thought about Eli and his situation. Aaron had told me to focous on what good/positive things he is doing. I could not think of anything positive that he was doing, so I just asked God to show me some good things that he was doing. I only get to see him for a few minutes before school, and evertime I see him I always see him doing something bad. So I'm just hoping that I will get to see some good things that he is doing since he has got back. I still have not started studying for my general class license written exam that I'm taking this Saturday. I do not know what I am going to do, I really have to pass it. I guess I'm just going to have to study my butt off between now and then. I also haven't finished the powerpoint presentation that I am supposed to give. It shouldn't be too hard, if worse comes to worse what I have done now will be suitable but I would really just like to add more stuff to it. I also have to finish the booth, I really only have the top done. I haven't made my bio to go on it yet so I will also have to do that.....ahh why do i always put things off till the last minute?!?!

Factors such as the humidity, extreme drought, high southerly winds, and dry vegetation. Tommorow (Wednesday) will be another critical day, says the SPC in Norman, OK, like Monday was. Franklin County remains under a burn ban as well as many surrounding counties. Severe Weather The forecast has changed a little bit since yesterday. I 30% chance of thunderstorms (some possibly reaching severe criteria) for the rest of the week. In an email I got just a little while ago said that it is too early to forecast anything severe with the present conditions. Tulsa NWS WFO is supposed to have a better grasp on it by tommorow or tommorow evening.

Well today was another Monday, to say the least. Just slow and boring and very unproductive on my part. Sunday night Kendra told me that her first day at Ozark would be Tuesday....well during fourth hour she shows up! I showed her around and we have almost the same schedule, which is cool. This Saturday I have to speak and give a presentation at the Ruessellville Hamfest...I am dreading it because I hardly have anything done or prepared for it. I haven't had time to study for the test either so I am pretty much going to just have to get on the ball with it or I just won't pass it, and that would stink. I have decided to post more detailed weather (wx) information each time I post. It has been a very long time since i last updated. Many things have chaned and many things are new. First of all I am proud to say that my friend, Kendra Howell, from church is transferring to Ozark High School. Her first day will probably be Tuesday. I'm excited for her! One thing that has been on me pretty heavily latley is Eli. He is getting into more stuff than he was in before he left to go to the re-habilitation hospital. It worries me, a lot. And the fact that the only thing I can do is pray kinda frsutrates me. Praying is great and all, God will always answer prayers in his own time if it's his will. But i'm just the kinda person who likes to have some control on certain things. And to watch Eli put himself into a big whole again is defenitly one of those things. Thanks a lot Aaron and Josh for your help, y'all are great. This weekend YWAM is hosting the Junior High K-Life club for a weekend of and about missions. Since I am not junior high I will sort of be "staffing" as Aaron called it. It should be fun. I'm looking forward to it. What is even better is that I am speaking at the Russellville ARVARF hamfest on that Saturday so that means I get out of all the vigrious work that they will be doing.....haha have fun Stephanie, Balee, and all you other junior high kids :-)!!!! I am about half way done with the PowerPoint presentation that I am doing while their at the hamfest. I also have to finish printing brochures and the newsletters and I still need the biography from Brogan to put on the tri-fold display......On top of that I haven't even started studying for the General Calss Written test that I will be taking at that same event to try to upgrade my ham license so I'll be pretty busy the next few days trying to get all of that done. Gosh I hate Monday's. Especially after a weekend of having little sleep. Well I'm pretty stinking tired and not feeling good. My throat still hurts and I can't breath out of my nose! The other night I was watching CNN (my favoritest channel ever) and Larry King was interviewing Michael W. Smith (contemperary christian artist) about his new movie that is comming out called "The Second Chance." I really can't wait to see it. I'm hoping that when I go that Eli can come becasue it reminded me a lot about him. During the intreview they played some of Simths' songs and one of them that they played was really good so I downloaded it. It is called "Above All", it's a really good song so I suggest that people should download it or do the legal thing and just buy the CD... RVCCO Church Update: Well I called Sandra a little while ago and seen if she had called Cody Pierce (a guy we have had in mind as a possible youth pastor for this summer). Apparently from what Sandra told me he is pretty excited about it and would love to do it. So i'm hoping that everything will work out. YWAM Ozarks Update: I haven't talked to anyone from up there today so I know of no new news. I tried calling J-Bizzy (Jonathan) earlier but he didn't answer. They may of been in a class or a meeting or something. Thursday is the community service. I've been trying to get a lot of my friends to go so I'm hoping that they will. Ahhh Why Is It So Cold?

Brr it is stinking cold outside. Well yesterday was the anual Advacned SKYWARN Spotter training class at Tulsa (the greatest city in the United States regardless of what Brint says). It was pretty much a pointless trip. I did not enjoy it for the most part. I did not learn anything that I didn't already know. I have took that class and other classes very similar to it so anything that was taught was just a refresher course. The one thing that I did enjoy was just being able to talk with a couple of the meterologist that I know up there. They invited the 3 of us from Franklin County to go out and eat lunch with them. The food was bad, the conversations were great. My throat hurts, I hope I'm not getting sick....that would suck. FYI: I do not like illeagal imigrants. Mexicans that come to Ozark and work at a new mexican restaurant and start hitting on my friends. This makes me mad. If i ever hold any political power at all this junk won't ever happen. They cross the border and live here in America without paying taxes and taking our jobs. This makes me mad. YWAM Ozarks Update: YWAMers are doing good. Dan left, which is somewhat dissapointing because he was really cool. But i got his number and his MSN messenger addy so I can get in contact with him and see how his endavours are going. The thing with my church doing Mission Adventures is not going so well. But I'm not even going to get into that. Well all I can say is thank the Lord that it is Friday. I am ready for a day to sleep in, but even thought it is the weekend I won't get that, especially tommorow (saturday)! I have an advanced storm spotters class in Tulsa. My uncle will be here aat 5:30 to pick me up, which puts me waking up at 6 am. Sunday I have church, I will get to sleep in some then, but only about an hour more than a regular week days. Dan leaves tommorow, which is dissapointing becasue I didn't get to talk with him today as planned. They had a big meeting today all day and as far as I know it's still going on. But I think Brint has his phone number so I could give him a call sometime I guess. He is just a cool guy, I hate to see him leave. That's the only negative thing I have found in YWAM. You meet people, you like them or get attatched to them, then they leave. Gosh it's gunna stink when the students leave beacsue thats 5 people that will be leaving all at once. Ok well YWAM does this community service every Thursday nigh at 7. I really wanted to go to this one in particular because Dan really sparked more intrest in me about missions and his stories were amazing. I just loved them, the guy has amazing faith in the Lord which is very cool. Ok, so Monday I tell Mr. Hume (my band director) that I wasn't going to be able to go to the basketball game that the band was playing on so I could go to YWAM. Well he said no you are comming to the game (as if he had any authority over me...grr)and I just walked off because there wasn't anything else that I could do. Well today i realized that i could go to part of the game (45 mintues) and that would be better than not showing up at all. So i get there a few minutes earlier than we were supposed to be to ask Mr. Hume what he estimated us to be done, he said 8:30, well I said my mom is going to be here at 6:45 to get me. And he was very rude and beligerant and said no you aren't leaving you'll be at the game. So i decided to do what I know is right and just leave at that point without telling him. So i called my grandma to come get me, she came and got me and took me to the YWAM base. I felt so much in power then! ...it was great...But then I started realizing that I could get in trouble for what I did. But I do believe that I did the right thing. So regardless of if I get in trouble or whatever I know that I did the right thing and he can just deal with it. I am pretty mad and sort of filled with a lot of anger right now and I'm trying to be the better person and just forget about it and try not to be so bitter. Oh yea, and apparently he was talking to some other students about it and made was talking like i was an idiot. Anyways, YWAM was great. I just enjoy listening to Dan speak, it's so great to hear his stories. One thing he spoke on tonight was prayer. Like pray for today and not as much for tommorow. And that really hit home beacuse i'm really bad about doing that....worrying about and being all caught up in tommorows things and not being avaliable to God for what he wants me to do. So tommorow after school he told me to head up there before he leaves and we can talk missions, which is a cool topic! Welcome Back Eli!

Tonight we had a welcome back party for Eli. For those of you who don't know who Eli is or where he is I will explain. Eli is a kid, a little younger than me, that lives here in Ozark. He has gotten himself into trouble a few times and then finally a judge made him go to a rehabilitation facility for youth. Well after a lot of prayer he got to come home about 4 months earlier than expected. And I can honestly say that I believe that the only reason he came home so early is that we had prayed so much that God would be with him and minister to him. I believe God did minister to him and that he started walking with the Lord again and therefor his good behavior allowed to him to be released earlier than expected. His early release has really worried me for the past week. I think a lot of it is selfish reasons though. I'm just so afraid that he will get back into the things he did before...the alcohol the drugs, and that sorta deal. I was so glad that Aaron Levin came. He made the bond/connection with Eli. I thought that was really cool because for some reason I was somewhat unsociable. I just really didn't know how to go about starting a conversation with him because I didn't know if he had changed from before or if he was still the same or what. But I have an idea so I hope to be able to have a talk with him Sunday just to see what his satus is and maybe get to do a little Gospel talk with him. So yea, if all my wonderful readers would just remember him and keep him in prayer...that would be great...prayer has brought him a long way and I hope that the Lord will continue to work in his life. Oh yea...Mrs. Bratton got some more results from some open-events that we could of taken last Wednesday and I got 1st place in Macromedia Dreamweaver MX...Amber got 2nd place in that event and i got 2nd place in Website Development and Amber got 3rd place in that event. So we did good...we are probably going to state which is cool other than the fact that the state competition falls on the day of my 16th birthday, band pre-contest at Dover, and the Ft. Smith Hanging Judge hamfest...so i'll miss out on some stuff to participate in that. Oh yea, one last thing. YWAM is having community services on Thursday nights at 7:00 in the administration building. So stop by, they are really fun and this weeks speaker is pretty cool. I got to listen to a large bit of his story on Cambodia missions and I was very intrested so come out! ....THIS HAS BEEN A COVERT OPERATION

An Update...Finally

Well so I decided I would ease the suspense that I have left my readers (that obviously have no life or they wouldn't be reading this). I haven't updated in forever because I have been so busy but now that i'm not so busy I thought it would be a good opportunity to fill everyone in on what has been going on. The main thing that was consuming a lot of my time is the FBLA (Future Buisness Leaders of America) Website Development competition. Amber and I ended up making 3rd place. We would of done better but one of the judges couldn't find the website because Chad put ".html" on the end of the web address. The other judge was nice and put effort to look for it. But we have learned a valuable lesson and we are going to kick butt next year. A few days ago was the storm spotters class at the ATOC building. It was great, we had 60 in attendance, which is great. YMAM'ers are doing good. Jen and Josh got back from a week in Orlanda, Florida today from a Mission Adventures confrence. I was at the community service that they have on Thursday's and it was cool. Barb showed pictures of her trip to Korea and Combodia. It was really sad to see the pictures, but it just makes me want to go into missions more. It also makes me respect the YWAM'ers and missionaries in genearal a lot more. *I just love YWAM Ozarks* An update on RVCCO (River Valley Community Church of Ozark). Well we are making progress on our search for a youth pastor. One person that we have in mind is Cody Pierce. He is a member of Ezekiel 3:18, the band that we sponsored to come play here in Ozark. He is in school at the University of Arkansas Monticello and hopes to be a youth pastor when he graduates. I really hope he can be ours this summer. But thats one of the problems, we will have to wait for summer before he can come up here and we don't know if his band schedule will conflict a lot or not. But he is from Paris so if he was our youth pastor he wouldn't live far away, which is good. Eli Lovett, for those of you who don't know is a kid that has been in a lot of trouble latley and had to go to a rehab facility, is comming home this Tuesday. It is so great because he is comming home about 5 months sooner than expected. We are throwing him a suprise welcome back party Wed. night at church. So all of you come and get in on the cake/ice cream action even if you don't know him! COVERT OPERATIONS!

Politics, Politics, Politics, ......and Wx!

Well many things have happened today that have enough importance to mention here on my blog thing. First of all, an update on my last post. Again today we were informed on how to answer more quesionts, and encouraged by other teachers. I think this is bull crap but i do see a bit of humor in it. The humor is that i see how corrupt this school is and hope that the state department of education sees it as weel, and if not i have the opportunity to bring it to them, which is a sweet opportunity i think. Moving on to more politics. Normally this time of year i'm not posting about my favorite dinner time discussion topic, which would be politics. But due to some recent comments from liberal politicians I must address them. Hillary's comments the other night about the House of Reps. being ran like a "plantation" was uncalled for. The United States of America is unsegregated and therefor should not be refered to as a plantation. True American citizens would not do this. In doing this Hillary has disrespected the founding fathers of this great country. Also, Hillary has gave insight on how she will run the country if she is elected, God willing she won't be. The second item of political concern is Al Gores comments on how Bush is breaking the law by spying on the American public. Now to assess the issue at hand, let's go back a few years into the Clinton Administration. Please tell me what president/vice president allowed for law enforcment agencies to break into houses and raid their homes looking for evidence. Durring this administration they called these people "enemies to the United States", ok fair enough. But what the heck is a terrorist that the current administration is spying on? In my oponion it's is an enemy also. So what the crap is different from what the Clinton/Gore Administration is doing compared to the Bush/Cheney Administration. I hate hypocrites, they are my biggest pet peave. I strongly believe that these two speeches are no coinsidence of timing. I think that Hillary will choose Al Gore for her running mate in 2008. But I have news for ya you evil scumbag of a politician: There isn't any way that I will see you be president. I'll move to Iraq before I'm a citizen of a county ran by you. The third item of political concern is the comments made by New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagon. In a speech given at the New Orleans city hall, he stated that he is preparing to make his city a "chocolate city" again, and that is his direct words. Once again, this country is not segregated, so stop trying to make it. In response to his speech he later gave a statement that he said that to boost the moral of the African American citizens of his country. Well if so it is still wrong. What about the caucasion or hispanic or other nationalities that lived in New Orleans before Katrina? Later he said he apologizes for his comments and would like to take them back. I will give them man credit for that being as Hillary defended her bias, out of line, liberal, scum bag comments and said she still believes in what she said. On a much much much lighter note, tommorow YWAM is hosting a "community service" thing. Which i think is a great idea. It will also allow me to attend 3 servicecs in a week, which is great. Gosh even though this was a lighter note as i called it, i'm still furious. It feels wierd to be posting about political issues when elections are in 2 years. Which is cool because I will be able to vote and help support the republican candidate. I'm really interested in who will be the republican candidate. Many assumptions are out there. I hope Huckabee doesn't run though. He is currently the governor of Arkansas, and he is doing a lousy job. He is one sorry republican. COVERT OPERATIONS

Ok i have 2 problems with the Ozark Public Schools.Here they are 1. Teachers inflicting their personal beliefs on us students. -- My History teacher likes to put his political and religious belifes on us students. At first, i was mad, and then learned to deal with it. But today we read a magazine article on the Iraq war. Then we had a worksheet that we had to fill out. Many, actually, the majority of the questions required our political and religious belifs. On his answer sheet, all the answers were a liberal view. Don't get me wrong, I respect any liberals views. I do disagree with most of them, but I respect your belief and opinions. But when he counts off when we have a different opinion I have a major problem. 2. Teachers/staff/faculty telling us how to answer questions asked by the State Department. --In Honors English (notice i'm not using teacher names)we were told how to answer questions that the state department might ask us when they come inspect the school. This is wrong and corrupt. If the case is that we have a crappy school, fix it, don't tell me to lie to save your butts, you cowards. COVERT OPS

Fun Day

Today I spent the majority of the day on the mountain, Manitou Mountain that is, at YWAM. It was fun, i got to get caught up with the staff that I hadn't seen in a while. I got to know the students a little bit more, which is cool. Then I got home just a few minutes before the AR ARRL Youth net and tonight was my night to be netcontroll. Well something was wrong with the link system and/or my base station. So we didn't get to do the net, which was somewhat disapointing but not that bad of thing. Tommorow I have to go back to school....blaahh is all i have to say about that. A cold front came through the area today bringing some much needed rain, but not near enough to alleviate the drought conditions in the area. Temps are supossed to be pretty low tommorow, which stinks becasue I liked the warm weather we were having. Anyways, i've been trying to update daily, and if not atleast every other day. So far I have been keeping up with it pretty well. COVERT OPS!

Well today was all-region tryouts...I didn't make it, but i've been saying i wouldn't for awhile so it's all good. I feel so much better now that all that stress is off. Congratulations to Jessica, Lance and Amber for making it! I just hope that i do good in the FBLA competition, if i don't do good in that I will feel really bad that i haven't done good in anything, latley. Ahh, it's just so nice not to have to worry about it any more. I do feel like i let some people down by not making all-region. A lot of my family really thought it was cool that I made region last year and i'm afraid to tell them becasue i think i've let them down. But it's ok, i need to find a new hobby to do good at because i'm sick of band. I will probably stay in band, but i probably won't do all-region and stuff like that anymore. COVERT OPS

Well tommorow is D-Day! I stayed after school with Mr. Hume today to practice, made some head-way, but I doubt that it will be enough to make it, but i'm keeping an optimistic attitude. I was looking on the ASBOA (Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association for all you non-band ners out there) and it only has 3 of my songs as audition materials and Mr. Hume gave me 5 so it's kind of nice that i know what tunes they will choose from and i'm sort of lucky that 2 of the 3 are fairly easy. well the website thing is comming along ok. Most everything is worked out, all we have to do is add the text to the pages, but i think amber is going to work on that tonight. So if she does, we will type it in tommorow. Then if we have time we will add images to the pages. Mrs. Bratton told us that the judges probably won't get the submission form with the URL until abotu Tuesday, so that gives us until Monday to work out the quirks and finish some stuff up. But as far as all-region is concerned....I have practiced ALL day since i got home, and i'm making a lot of progress (hints the title of this post. So i'm HOPING that tonight i can practice a lot and then all day tommorow that i will have it hammered down enough so that i might have some hope of making it. gone to practice! A Day of Progress

Today has been a good day, i guess. I have made slight progress on my all-region music. Tommorow I'm going to have Lance and Mr. Hume help me a lot so then I can come home and practice all-day and hopefully make a lot more progress. On the FBLA website competition thing, Amber and I FINALLY got started on something. But it is still hard to get anything done in the 7 or 8 minutes that we have for EOC. So due to that today I started saving all the site files in my thumb/flash drive and i'm bringing it home every day and going to be working on it and then what i do design/technically wise she can gramatically edit it and do girly things to it. I think its somewhat of a good team....we still have to find a time to take pictures of Ozark for the site. But Mrs. Bratton told us today that we can save pictures from the REAL Ozark website and use them on the site, as long as we cite that we used them in the disclaimer, so i guess that helps us a little bit. The only 'non progress' thing is that i have a good amount of english work to do, but i'll put it off until the last minute like I always do and do it at lunch or between classes or something. But with my saying that, it reminds me of last semester and how i had a 79, so maybe that needs to change. Oh yea.....YWAM got a new student...their first guy...and guess what....HE IS FROM OKLAHOMA!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOOOHOOOOO! ~GO SOONERS~ COVERT OPERATIONS

Long, yet good day

Today was the DEC meeting at Conway. It was good, I learned a lot about ARES/RACES that i didn't know, which is good being that i'm an ARES/RACES member. The ADEM building was pretty cool, i love their EOC, but they are moving, so that is sad for them I guess. The Youth got a lot planned and accomplished. Our ASM didn't show up drunk, which is a big "wheeew thang goodness!" I heard the fire situation was extremely dangerous here in the county today so I'm kind of dissapointed I didn't get to be here, but it was all good. We ate at Ryans Restuarant....it was grose and i paid 11.98 for it..grr. I lost may rubber ducky anteanna in Joe's car somwhere, so i hope we don't have any storms anytime soon before i find it. All regin is less than a week away. I have a lot of practice to be doing. This week will probably be a pretty stressful week while I'm trying to learn it. The FBLA website is due pretty soon, Amber and I have got to start working. But when you only get 7 minutes a day, literally, it is hard. Hopefully we will find some time somewhere else. 9 Days Till All-Region Tryouts and guess who hasn't practiced!

All-Region band tryouts are January 14th. I have put off practicing since the first of the year and now look what i have gotten myself in. The music is so much harder from last year, thats the difference from junior high tryout music and the high school music. I think if i buckle down for the next few days and practice a lot i might have a chance to make it. Last year i made it because i practiced for abotu 3 months. The reason i had that motivation was because Mr. Hume ordered the CD's to go a long with the music so we knew what the stuff was supposed to sound like, this year he didn't. Tommorow i'm going to see if Lance can help me and then practice all weekend and then have Mr. Hume "fine-tune" me and hope that i can do good and make a lot of progress. COVERT OPERATIONS!

Back To School....

Well today we had to go back to school. I was no where near ready to go back! I got maybe 3 1/2 hours of sleep. But tonight i will get more, i hope, atleast i better! I talked to Josh from YWAM today before I left for church, they got home today and they were supposed to get home yesterday. They had stopped in Memphis to have some of Jonathans dads' ribs so that delayed them a day. I can't wait to get back up there and start getting to know the students. Anyways, there were a couple of fires today. The fire danger has dropped but the status is still "high" as the USFC (United States Forestry Comission). A storm spotters class is comming up, i'm excited. It is January 26th at the Arkansas Tech University Ozark Campus Collegiate Center on 23 north. Cost is free and if it is like the normal ones we sponsor there will be refreshments for the break. I'm looking forward to seeing Steve Piltz and Ed Calienese, it's always fun to talk "weather" with them. Then on February 11th is the advanced storm spotters class in Tulsa, OK. I went to my first one of those last year and then we got to take a tour of the National Weather Service Forcast Office, it was cool! It just made me want to hurry up and graduate and get out of college and go work their. This Sunday the Arkansas ARRL Youth Leadership (brogan, jon, and me) are having to go to the DEC/EC meeting in Conway, AR and talk about what we are doing. I'm sort of excited becasue I finally get to meet some of the guys that I haven't met and only talked to on the air or via email/instant messaging. Joe and I are going so that will be fun cause we haven't got to hang out at all since school started and him starting to work in Little Rock. COVERT OPERATIONS

Todays' EXTREME Fire Danger

Today, Tuseday is a "critical" day as the SPC calls it for fire danger. Low humidity, strong southwest winds from a cold front followed by a dryline will present the Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas areas with an extremem fire danger on top of already burning fires. The picture is from the Storm Prediction Center. The red/green dots are fires that are seen all the way from space so you can just imagine how large they are if they are being seen that far away. I will be in the EOC from abotu 1:00 p.m. until the fire weather situation calms down, which will be at Fred's descretion. On a much lighter note, the AR ARRL Youth held our first net tonight, we had about 12 checkins. Much better than we thought we were going to have. We did have about two problems: 1. adults checking in when youth are supposed too 2. stations not using a 110.9 tone to access the link system. But these are "good" problems to have becasue they can be easly fixed. Also, these problems were some what expected since both of these situations are totally different from other nets that are held on the C.A.R.E.N repeaters that are used for other nets.. Oklahoma Wildfires

These are a few of the pictures of some of the Oklahoma wildfires. I have been watching some of the live coverage on CNN and it's really scary. Some of the fires are right next to the Zoo and on Sooner Road, which is next to the University of Oklahoma, and that better not burn down! But on the live video feed you can see fires brushing up against houses and the firemen having to go inside of them to get people out because they did not follow evacuation orders. A lot of the stuf they are saying is really sad, and some of it is enough to anger you. I'm talking about the part where the news is saying that people are so careless and throw down their ciggerates and thats whats starting these fires, thats the part that makes you mad. The part that is sad is that these fires are comming from natural causes. With the current weather conditions, high winds, low humidity, months of drought, little rainfall recently, and a few other conditions are the stuff that causes all the fires. So these people are being punished for them just living there. I'll try to put some more forcast models and other maps up later tonight. Tuesday looks to be the next critical day, thats tommorow. Well, In my previous post I talked about how i was mad with the whole church situation. So this morning I was WAY tired cause i didn't get to go to bed until about 4:30. But when my alarm went off (keep in mind i'm always really grumpy for abuot the first 3 hours i'm awake) i decided i would give them a little taste of their own medicine...not showing up, without any notice. So I went back to sleep and slept until about 3:45 pm today. I think I'm going to start looking around for a new church. I'm so sick of us planning stuff and then the people planning the event, just decide to go out of town. And on top of that they won't even call me to tell me things are cancled. If you haven't already figured it out, my church youth leaders were planning a New Years Eve welcomeing in type thing and now we aren't doing anything. I was invited to a few different things and I said no to both of the people inviting me so I could go to the youth thing. Fire Wx Conditions Worsen

As of yesterday, Franklin County was placed under a burn-ban by the county Judge, Joe Powell. This morning the National Weather Service in Tulsa, Oklahoma placed much of the area under a fire weather watch. Today the Pleasant View Fire Department responded to two calls, both of which occured within about a half an hour of each other. Forcast shows that today is one of the better days of the week becasue Sunday and Tuesday look to be extremely dangerous. Emergency Management and Fire officials are worried becasue New Year is commonly associated with fire works and bbq and alcohol. Add alcohol, fire, and fire works and it creates a sticky situations. Also on New Years, the risk of the SAR (Search and Rescue) team being called to a search is normally high. Last year the FC SAR team responded to a search on Mount Magazine. COVERT OPERATIONS

Here it is, my new radio I got for Christmas. It is a yaesu FT-7800 dualbander. It is really nice to have a base station now becasue i can talk to people without having to stand outside using my HT. And i can talk to my Uncle Dave, who lives in Fort Smith, and probably my cousin Joe when we works at Little Rock using the 440 repeater. My Uncle Rick said the 440 reapeter should cover all the way to Little Rock, so hopefully it will. I'm sitting here in desktop publishing. I just read on the National Weather Service, Little Rock Office, that there are 8 CONFIRMED tornadoes Sunday night with a possibility of 15 total when it is all overwith. Franklin County and Johnson County were lucky becasue the storms developed just East of our county borders. Well I'm gonna go be bored now. I give my 2nd speech in about 20 minutes. The speech is a persuasion speech and I wanted to do min eon something that no one else does (casue the teacher has a file of all the previous stuff people have done and all their research is in it for them to use) so i did mine on the Importance of Emermgency Management. What ever happened to tradition?

I find myself writing this post in anger (haha what's new).....I recently found out that this year we are having a combined Thanksgiving dinner. Call me selfesh but I don't want to do this. If there was some sort of issue where the other family wasn't able to have their own Thanksgiving dinner, I would be so plealsed and happy to have them over. But this is because my grandma has been dating this guy (it's his family) and thats why they are comming. I really like the people comming, heck one of them is a ham radio operator and that's big points in my book. It's not the people at any means....it's just the fact that it's going to be different and I'm sick of change. It seems as if ever since my grandpa died 2 years ago all of our tradition has just not been carried on. It really makes me mad because my grandpa meant the world to me and when he died I decided I wanted to keep the Covert traditions going just as he had done. Now are Christmas's are nothing like two they used to be, Easter's aren't the same and now Thanksgivings aren't the same....I am seriously considering things 1) Not participating in the Thanksgiving Dinner and just staying home. 2) Asking to go to the other Covert's and Penningtons Dinner in Altus because I know they continue Covert tradition. ...THIS HAS BEEN A COVERT OPERATION

Well last night was a bust (a bust is a chaser term for not getting any action, weather action that is). The NWS Tulsa and the SPC had been building last night up to be a pretty eventful night for our area, and the storms either went extreme north or extreme south of us. Grrr. (. It’s really annoying when you change your plans for the whole day for something that doesn’t even happen. This year has been so UN-eventful when it comes to weather it’s sad. Although on April 11 of this year I got that picture of the wall cloud. I need to find that and put it on here.

Tonight I’m going to a Jars of Clay concert at UAFS with my youth group, my friend Stephanie is going and the YWAM guys/gals are going so regardless if the concert sucks it’ll be really fun with them. I think I’ll take my HT and try to make a contact with some of the Ft. Smith hams. I’m currently listening to Letters From War by Mark Schultz and it’s really good! Oh speaking of music, they have been playing this song “Hillbilly Shoes by Montgomery Gentry” on the intercom on game days and at first I didn’t like the song but I downloaded it and it’s slowly growing on me. Wow, I still have almost 2 hours before we leave for the concert…..ahhh! This day has gone by so slow.

Pretty Sure I'm Mad!

I’m pretty ticked off right now. To give the whole background of why this is being brought up I’ll explain. In H. English we have to do scrapbooks for a grade. Well I have done 2 pages on Mirjam or YWAM Ozarks the past two pages I’ve done. Well today I presented mine and someone asked me about why the YWAM Ozarks didn’t allow hurricane evacuees use the facilities and appearntly the whole town thinks this. And this makes me mad because I want everyone to know how great the YWAMers are but with extremely out of line people spreading rumors about this I’m mad. GRRRRR!! The truth is the YWAMers are the coolest people you will ever meet and would do anything to help anyone at anytime.

A Good Church Service
This morning was one of the best services at RVCCO. First of all the Youth Department as we are calling ourselves decided that we would make bulletins and hand out for the service like at Webb City, well it worked great and all of the old people loved it. The second thing is that we got paid for picking up trash at the home football games, but we were also anonymously given two checks for the youth. So we decided to use the check to add to our total donation, and so I presented Gary with a check of $1,550 this morning! It was pretty cool because people were whistling, clapping, and saying Amen. It is kind of ironic because we call ourselves the “Youth Department”, but in reality I am the youth department. Hopefully this will change in the future. Another thing that happened this morning is that the elders of the church decided to let us bring Ezekiel 3:18 (a Christian band) to come to the church in concert on December 10. So y’all be sure to come out and support them, it doesn’t cost anything but a Love Offering. Well I’m gonna jet cause it’s late and I have school tomorrow.

I've been sick for the past few days and it's really killing me just sitting around doing nothing but going through boxes of Klenexes. A few days ago i went to a Chris Tomlin/Matt Redman concert with the YWAMers and it was really cool. A song that Chris Tomlin did that i really liked and that i have had stuck in my head for a few days now is "Indescribable", download it or by the CD if you can. My youth group and possibly the YWAMers are going to a Jars of Clay concert on November 13. Chris Rice and Sarah Groves are also going to be there, I think it will be pretty cool. There are a few other concerts like a concert with Jeremey Camp and a few others in Little Rock durring the first part of December and then a Christmas Concert Tour with Steven Curtis Chapman and Mercy me....it'd be really cool if we could go to those. Oh yea, I was asked to be the Arkasnas Section for Youth webmaster of the AR Youth Hams website yesterday. I guess I'll say yes...but i'm not for sure becasue the AR ARRL has already jipped me out of another position I applied for and then gave it to someone who didn't meet the qualifications....grr ....This has been a Covert operation

Well we (ywamer's and I) went to RiverTowne BBQ tonighth and ate. Larry brought up that they have their first registered DTS Student! Which to them isn't that big of a deal but to me it's awsome becasue it's kinda scary that DTS starts in about two months but yet they only have one registered student. But it's ok, it will all work out. ...This has been a Covert operation

Well tonight, Tuesday, we got the drill (for all of you non-band nerds, drill is how/where/when you march, just written on paper) for the closing tune, Urban. This might sound like it's not a big deal. Well it wouldn't be if we didn't have CONTEST THIS SATURDAY! On top of that tommorow is the only day we will practice it becasue Thursday we have a pep-rally in place of band and Friday we are out of school for staff development. We do get to do it once Friday night at the half time show but that won't help at all. I think this is wonderful. ...This has been a Covert operation

First Day As A Sophmore

My first day of school as a sophmore was ok/average. I was still in the "i am supposed to be asleep right now so do not talk to me" mood so nothing appealed to me as "wow, this is so much better than junior high" or "this stinks i miss the junior high." One thing that wasn't so great was I don't know any of the teachers names besides the 7 that i have and a couple of those I have had in the past so that helps. It sort of seems cooler than the junior high because there is more pep-rally's which is awsome because that means the band gets to play! Speaking of pep-really's, the first football game is September 2nd. It is the Franklin County Feud which means it's going to be big. But the bad thing is the band will only play one song and i don't know if we will march any or not but it will be cool anyways, actually it's going to be really hot, lol. ...This has been a Covert operation
